An MOT, which stands for Ministry of Transport Test, is an annual inspection required by law in the UK to ensure your car meets environmental and safety standards. Here’s some information on MOTs:

• What it does: An MOT test checks various parts of your car to make sure they meet the minimum legal requirements for safe driving and reduced emissions. This includes things like brakes, lights, tires, seatbelts, and exhaust.

• What it doesn’t do: An MOT is not a full car service and doesn’t check things like the engine, gearbox, or clutch. It also doesn’t guarantee your car will be problem-free for the following year.

• Do I need one? Most vehicles over 3 years old need an MOT test every year.

• Where to get one: MOT tests can be carried out at any government-approved MOT testing station.
